Children's Ministry

Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.  Mark 10:14.

Our Vision:  The vision that fuels our work in Children’s Ministries grows out of Jesus’ compassion and love for children.  In the midst of a consuming ministry to adults, Jesus regularly ministered to children. We believe the future of the church and world depends on effective ministry to children today.

Sunday School Program:  A full Children’s Sunday School program is provided during the 9 a.m. worship hour for pre-kindergarten children through 5th grade.

Childcare:  Childcare is provided for infants and toddlers in Room 2 during the 9 a.m. worship hour and during the time that Family Connect and Family Faith on Fire Workshops are held (from 10:15 to 11 a.m.).   During both the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. worship service times, an “activity” area is set up in the narthex with a rocker, activity mat and activity cube.

Children Attending Worship Services:   Parents may pick up a Kids’ Worship Bulletin from the Welcome Cart for children who stay in the worship service with their families.  The bulletins contains activities and coloring sheets that match the sermon and scripture.

Our Program's Scope: We have a number of activities for children and families in addition to those scheduled for Sunday mornings.  Explore our web pages and discover the exciting things we have in store for you. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, we’ve included many photos on the Children’s Ministry web pages.  Come, have a look!

Children's Ministry Corner Photos:  There are even more photos on a members-only website at umctochildrensministry.shutterfly.com. Contact Diana Rainer at diana.rainer@umcto.org for more information about the site.

Safe Sanctuaries:  Here at UMCTO, we are committed to the physical, emotional & spiritual safety of your children.  We have implemented and follow a Safe Sanctuaries Policy to help us with this goal. All volunteers working with children are background checked & trained in the Safe Sanctuaries Policy.  If you would like to view the policy and training material, click here.
